Goodbye

From the moment you left
I bid you goodbye.
From the moment you said ‘I’m sorry’
A chapter closed.

With tears in your eyes; a smile across your face
You bid me goodbye.
One foot in the grave
You slowly drifted.

Now standing by your lifeless body,
I bid you goodbye.
Knowing I’ll never forget you
Never letting go.

With tears in my heart,
I heard your wordless goodbye.
